James “Jay” Horne is an AV-Preeminent rated aggressive litigation attorney, who focuses his practice on medical malpractice, personal injury and family law matters. He has successfully represented clients from case inception through trial and appeals in state and federal court. Jay was born and raised on the Suncoast. He is married and proud father to a one year old son. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golfing and distance running during the cool months.
Training
Attorney James “Jay” Horne graduated from Florida International University, magna cum laude, with his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2009. He majored in Finance and International Business. Then he graduated from Florida International College of Law, cum laude, in 2012 and was admitted to The Florida Bar that same year. While in law school, Jay achieved the highest grade (Book award) in Constitutional Law and Business Associations.
Activities, Associations And Awards
Jay is a member of the Florida Justice Association, The Manatee Inn of Court, Manatee and Sarasota County Bar Associations. He has served as the president of the Young Lawyers Division of the MCBA and on the Board of Directors of the MCBA. In 2018, he was selected as a Bennett scholar by The Florida Bar’s Trial Lawyers’ section and completed the Advanced International Advocacy Course at the University of Oxford in England.
He has also received the Pro Bono Service Award from the Legal Aid of Manasota for providing free legal services to the survivors of domestic violence.
